So, I have a tank with three tetras, a balloon molly (that I can't figure out is male or female!), an orange swordtail, and two AD frogs.

Up until recently they've all played nicely. :( But today I did a full on clean of their rocks, equipment, etc 'cause it was getting all grungy. I took them out of their tank, put them into a huge bucket of the water from their tank, did a 50/50 water change, put in all the right chemicals, etc, and now, while they all seem healthy enough...

My Balloon Molly is chasing my Swordtail around! It looks like it might be nipping at it's underside and on the sides... I don't know what to do. I read a bunch of articles that said they could be breeding, but I don't know the sex of them! So I'm worried that out of the blue my Molly is freaking out and trying to eat my poor Swordtail!

Help!!!

Balloon mollies are not very good swimmer's due to their shape, and a healthy swordtail could easily avoid the balloon molly assuming tank is large enough.
Mollies and swordtails cannot interbreed, two different species.
Swordtail's and platy's can interbreed but not with mollies.

if the swordtail is male then it will have the sword. It does sound like your molly is trying to breed with your sword. Just because they cant breed doesnt mean they wont try
