Your Molly

hi I'm new here, please can anyone tell me if my molly is pregnant, thanks

bantam...

This can be hard to tell. But, there's a little trick to getting the female to drop her fry if she's ready. Start changing a little more water and a little more often. I would work up to the point, you're removing and replacing more than half the water every week. Make the new water a bit warmer than what's already in the tank. I would add a tiny bit of aquarium salt to the new, treated tap water, just a teaspoon for every 5 gallons. The warm, pure water will encourage the female to drop her fry and the trace of salt will help ease the stress of the pregnancy. When you see the fry, start feeding a little more and more often. I've found that well fed adult fish are much less likely to bother the fry.
