So I hard-plumbed my tank last night with PVC, etc. This morning when I took a look at the tank I couldn't find any fish. So I openned my canister filters and found 1 in the first one and the other 3 in the second one! I did not put any strainers on the end of the intake tubes (obviously) so I guess they just swam in or were sucked in. I thought they were smart enough to know to swim away from currents? Anyway, they are all fine, somehow :dunno:. Just thought I would share!

Good to hear.

Currently I'm missing one of my weather loaches. I did a little remodeling of the tank yesturday, and hopefully I didn't crush him with a rock or something...I checked under them all and stirred the gravel a bit, and also checked the filters and around the tank if he jumped out, still no luck. :?

Ever since the mishap, they have been very shy - they hang out all the time behind one specific plant. I wonder what's going on back there.... They still swim around once in a while but they dont come up for food any more . Maybe they are traumatised?

Yes but I didn't think fish had that type of memory....first of all I can't believe they all survived! I thought maybe the current and getting crammed in a small amount of water had encouraged them to spawn and that was what they were doing back there???

Have you managed to have a close look at them? Do they appear injured in any way?

How was their behaviour before their trip into the filter, were they more active before? Also, are they feeding ok and have you checked the water parameters?

That sounds like a stress issue. How much decoration and what other fish are left in the tank? Where are the decorations located? (clumped together or spread apart)
Try changing the decorations around, add something new, and see if that doesn't do the trick. Also, watch the temp. If they are clinging to the heater, they may be looking for warmer temps. If the water isn't circulating properly in the tank, one spot near the heater will remain warmer than the rest of the tank. They may be craving the heat, and this, also, may have a lot to do with stress levels.

the decos in my tank vary..both corners have good covering...and i'm pretty sure my filter circulates the water well..i dont have any temp spikes/drops..i keep my temp between 80-82.

That still sounds like a stress issue to me. Danios like to have a few of their own kind in the tank to chase around with. Also, if the only decorations in the tank are in the corner... this also will provide lack of hiding space everywhere else in the tank. I'd try adding more decorations. What other fish are in this tank with it, and how big is this tank?
