My Fishkeeping experience:
When & how did you become involved in fishkeeping?
- I kept a goldfish tank (with a betta in it, gasp!) when I was a youngun, like ten or smething. I had that tank for a few years until it was empty. When I met my current wife (back in 2008) she really wanted a fish tank in the house but didn't want to do any of the work, so guess who took it over...
How did you discover this fish forum?
- I Googled "How much and do I need in my Reef Tank? The rest is history...
What kind of fish do you currently keep?
- I have Neons and Platys in a 20 gallon "kitsch" tank I started for my son and a dottyback and crabs and corals in my 30 gallon salty tank (I go slowly with adding fish to this tank. Usually one or two every few months).
What size tanks and setups do you have?
- Right now a 20 gallon FW with Tetras and Platys. Mostly kitsch and gravel, HOB filtration and fishies. I want to upgrade it to a 29 gallon tall and plant it. I also have a 30 gallon Coral Reef tank with a few corals and a dottyback, live rock and live sand.
What would be your dream tank?
- I would love a 180 gallon tank to house a Stars & Stripes Puffer as my centerpiece fish.
Do you name your fish? If so, what are their names?
- no naming here. I call them out by common name.
What is your favorite fish?
- Desjardini Sailfin Tang.
What was your most challenging fishkeeping experience?
- Losing a 150 gallon Reef Tank to coral nuclear warfare.
What advice would you like to share with the forum community?
- Research. And when you are done, research some more.
Other stuff about me:
What are your other hobbies?
- My wife would laugh at this one. She says that everything I do is a hobby, and I have way too many of them... I have "interests" (lol), such as: collecting Mechanical Mickey Mouse watches, working on house, softball, golf, playing the drums and playing guitar. I also just dove into writing a fiction novel. We will see how that goes...
Do you keep any other pets?
- We have two rescue dogs, two rescue cats and two cockatiels.
What are your favorite bands/type of music?
- My all-time favorites are tied between Led Zeppelin and The Beatles. I don't really have a favorite "type" of music. I will listen to it all. My iPod has: Johnny Cash, Toby Keith, Scandal, Iron Maiden, AFI, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Men at Work, Zeppelin, The Beatles and Mindless Self Indulgence...to name a few.
What are a few of your favorite films?
- Shawshank Redemption, Fight Club, The Princess Bride and Spaceballs.
What are your favorite TV shows?
- Right now, The Following. Love it. I am also glued to watching Breaking Bad right now.
What are a few of your favorite books?
- 1984 is my absolute favorite book of all time. From high school until now I have read that book at least a dozen times. Others include Catch 22, the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, I just finished the Hunger Games Trilogy... It's kind of hard to list everything I liked here...
What is your favorite food?
- Turkish. I love a good falafel.
What are your pet peeves?

What is REALLY important to you?
- My family. I love them.
What is your favorite silly quote?
- Jeff Passan (a Yahoo! sports ananlyst) said: Why is it that anything beginning with “Back when I was a kid” always ends with an absurd statement?
