Well I have more questions...As I said in my co2 post I am redoing my aquarium which is a 90 gallon freshwater setup. I currently have 2 48" fluorescent lights that I think are 40 watts each maybe not real sure. Now I know this is not nearly enough light for plants to do well so I was wondering what the best kind of lighting would be. I don't really want to spend a fortune on the lighting because I am also wanting to buy a co2 setup but i do want to get something better. I currently don't have a hood on the aquarium but I am going to build one real soon so whatever the lighting looks like doesn't really matter as long as it will help the plants.
Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks
Gary

for hardy, low light plants, 2wpg. on average, 3 watts per gallon, if you want a really really really thriving tank, 4 wpg, if you want a tank that blooms with plant growth daily, 5 wpg

Or you could have a tank that has plenty of plants like mine at .5 watts per gallon. Obviously the 2 W per gallon rule does not always hold true.

The output spectrum of the light (thus the reason a 20watt flourescent is better than a 100watt incandesant), fertilization, duration of lighting, plant types, etc will all have an effect on your success in growing plants. If the watts per gallon rule was a reliable indicator of plant success my tank would be a barren wasteland.

That would probably do it though I don't think you actually need the actinic blue lights in a freshwater tank. You might want to consider swapping them out for regular cf lights.

If you are getting pressurized CO2, go for it, get the different bulbs and go the full 260 watts. This will allow you to grow pretty much anything you want to. Should work just fine just have to find the bulbs to swap them out. Keep the actinincs on hand though just in case you want to cut out some light later.

Sorry about that, I didnt really read the bulbs on that one, I had been looking at another one just like that which stated I could pick whatever bulbs that I wanted.
I did just order the co2 setup off of ebay so now I gotta wait just a little bit and get a little more money together before I order the lights.
Thanks for all the input
