Lightbulbs for small aquariums

I have a 5.5 gallon aquarium and have been using Zoomed Ultra sun lightbulbs.

My first bulb was great and lasted a year.

...every single one after that lasted 3 months and the replacement I just ordered is a wreck that is loose in the ballast so now I'm kind of annoyed with zoo med.

So I'm wondering what other 10watt bulb I should be getting. I was looking at other bulbs on Amazon and people were still complaining about them not lasting long in the reviews.

I'm growing plants in my aquarium, duckweed and dwarf lily and one plant I can't remember the name of. Just a basic low light set-up.

be sure to get the 6500k versions. they are GE and say 6500k vertically down the side of the pack.

I also use 1/4" plastic egg crate for a tank top. and the round spot clip on reflectors. Just put bulb in reflector and reflector on egg crate. Or I just use an incandescent auqarium fixture with the 6500k bulbs in.

What type of fixture do you have? I cannot find one for my 5.5 gal tank????

I don't know if this was in response to my post, but I don't use any "aquarium" fixtures in my tanks. Just what can be had from lowes, home depot, wall mart and the like.
