My good lady has seen killifish and thinks they would look good in the new aquarium.

Some people are selling the eggs. Is this a sensible option or do I buy live fish.

Will they be ok in my tank with neons, lemon tetra, otocinclus and galaxy rasbora?

I don't know a lot about killifish eggs but I'm pretty sure the eggs you can buy are for annual killifish that live for about a year. I don't believe it's too hard to hatch them but I'm not familiar with the process.

I have a pair of Orange Australe killis. They live approximately 3 years. Bought them at my LFS last year. Beautiful fish with great personality but they nipped the hell out my Harlequin Rasboras and tortured my BN pleco. They don't make very good tank mates in my experience. They now live alone.

They also are prone to jumping so a good lid or lowered waterline with floating plants is a must.

The eggs you can buy are generally a good deal. It really depends on what you want. You hatch them in a different container other than your tank. Once the fry get big enough you could place them in your tank. My experince with killies is similar to the other persons. The tend to be really nippy and bossy. The are not good tank mates. I do hear the rice fish are far less aggressive. You could also try Aussies seeing that they have the briliant color of most killies.
