I've been in the aquarium business for some years, but not fully planted aquariums.
After I saw some photos on this site, I decided that a planted aquarium will be my next project.
I had a 50 litre tank in the garage that I started up again with ADA Amazonia Normal substrate, all the necessary CO2 gadgets with 38W hanging LED lights.
I bought a few plants and on day 1 this what my tank looked like
But the tank still looked too empty so on Day 3 I went back to buy more plants
I couldn't remember the names of the plants, as most of the time I cant even pronounce it. So if a plant looked nice, I bought it.
This was day 3 before I planted the new ones
Then two weeks after I planted the new ones I realized that I have created a massive jungle that is not maintainable.
Some more pics of the jungle
Everything in the tank is growing like at a rate that I have never seen before.
I have to say that I am trying all plant types to see what works for me, cause I am planning to convert my 600litre tank to a fully planted tank, that's when I have enough money to do so of cause.
And yes all the plants in my tank are working for me. I had to cut down so much of the plants cause there just wasn't enough circulation in the tank anymore which created a CO2 deficiency on some plants.
Fish in the tank - Few Neon Tetras and a few Otto's to keep the algae under control.
A Planted aquarium with the correct lights, is the most spectacular picture ever, and you can see the progress on daily basis. And most important, it makes your fish appear more beautiful.
Everyday there is always something new to learn about a planted aquarium.
