Yep. ONE lonely Beta in like a 10 gallon tall tank. Friends of ours went on an extended vacation for a month and brought the tank to my house. My 3yo son LOVED this fish so much, and got really into feeding him and his well being.... the next thing I knew (the day the fish went home) my husband had bought a 36 gallon acrylic tank with a built in black cabinet stand and top. Pretty sweet looking. We went to an aquarium store and we are finding out we (apparently - I guess) got some really bad advice from the "expert" there. Currently have:
5 tiger barbs
1 rainbow shark
1 redtail shark
1 placo
1 red chromide
1 firemouth

Everyone is doing fine as of now. (three week old tank) I'm pretty attached to the firemouth (I call him Vega) and my son likes to watch the tiger barbs school...but after a few posts of advice and comments that some of them are going to kill each other I'm seriously considering redoing the entire tank. Any advice would we welcomed over in my "new tank" post in the Cichlids section.

Looking forward to getting to know some of you!

Welcome. Yep, that's how it starts:lol: Once you have one fish...

Sorry, I can't answer your questions about your fish mates, but I'm sure someone on the site will. It is the only site I have used for my fishy information. Somehow I stumbled onto it with no idea, but it is a great site.

The reference section is good to look at individual fish and see what their needs are. Very helpful.
