It is not an emerald crab, mithrax emerald crabs have scoop shaped blunt pincers and a green exoskeleton. If it has sharp ended pincers it may be questionable in the reef tank. Any other pics of the little guy,I would get one of those in tank breeder boxes or better yet one of the external ones that are run via pump and keep him there until you ID him.

If my Wife gets a better picture tomorrow, I will post it.
He is in a 2 gallon tank floating in the 55 for the night.
The 55 is curing and has only hermits, two feeder shrimp and rock with some mushroom coral in it.
Thanks!

Well I am apposed to unknown crabs in the reef tank as I may have stated before. He almost reminds me of an acro crab I have had but also looks like it has curved pincers wich are on some shore crabs. I would try and look through some marine aquarium ID books\sites.I might have time later to look into one of my invert books,do you have any pincer pics?

You can get a good idea of what the crab may be geared towards eating by seeing the pincers.Like I said earlier scooped claws and filter feeding appendages are less likely to harm things as are the tiny pincers of some other crabs but if they are squat and jagged or long and pointy they may be for tearing, crushing or cutting.
