J tried to search for this first, but the search function wouldn't pull up for some reason. Anyway, I was just curious if anyone here had much experience with the porthole cats. How well do they do in aquariums? Are they hardy? Do they have to have a group? Ive looked them up online, but there isn't a whole lot of info I can find beyond basic size and water parameters. Thanks guys

I have not had personal experience with them but from what I've read, they are pretty peaceful and hardy. They are shoalers so they can and most likely should be kept in a group of at least 3 but I have not read about them pining away if kept singly. Nocturnal, like most catfishes, so they like lots of hiding places. I'm also reading that they can be trusted with smaller fish except for perhaps fry; as for their own breeding habits, they are a challenging bubblenester species.
