Hello everyone!
I'm going to be getting a 12-14 gallon tank very soon and I'm thinking about what fish I want to have in it. I'm interested in getting a shrimp, particularly the Cherry shrimp, but I don't know how much algae there will be in my tank, as I'm not interested in growing/maintaining any live plants. Is there a simple way to produce algae in a freshwater tank? Or can I just buy some food from the store that the shrimp will be fine with?

Thank you!

If you're going to go through the trouble of growing algae in your tank and then battling to keep it under control then why not get some low-light, hardy, no-maintenance plants like marimo moss, java moss, java fern, anubias and others?

Shrimp thrive in cycled tanks with lots of plants matter.

Thank you! Yes, just this morning I decided I was going to get a moss ball. :)
