Hello, I am wondering how to diagnose an illness in guppies and platys. I am trying to learn what to look for if one is not looking right or not acting right. (ie. red gills, lethargic, not eating, swimming and rubbing against rocks) I know from reading up that ick causes them to rub , red gills = ammonia poisoning . But how do we know for sure that we are treating for the correct thing?

Assuming that water parameters are good that is.
