I'm looking in to getting myself 55 gal tank but... there is one problem. I will be moving in 2 years, knowing how bad is it for the fish and for the plants and for aqua life in general I just don’t know if I should get it or wait 2 years.

How do you move 55 gal :?: I was thinking maybe getting a dolly and transporting it with the stand? after removing most of the stuff and water out of the tank of course. I do not want to take the whole tank apart. So.. Basically if I don’t have to remove gravel with plants and can just leave a little water on the bottom for plants .. and I can transport it that way... than I'll get it... but if you ladies and gents think that the whole thing must come apart ... than I’ll rather wait 2 years.

Well moving a tank can be done. But the best way to do it is to tear it completely down. We have a saltwater reef tank and have moved it about 3 times (due to my husband being in the military). Everything has survived and it can be done. It all depends on if you want to wait or get it then move it.

Personaly we take ours apart to move them. We have 2- 55 gallons and wouldn't want to take the chance of moving it with the gravel in the bottom the weight of the gravel might bust the bottom of the tank, depending on how much gravel/sand you have in there of course. Not to mention the weight of a 55gallon with gravel and a little bit of water in it.
Everyone has their own way of doing it tho.

I like this topic as I imagine moving within the next year. I definately want to upgrade to some larger tanks, but am holding off.

What would be the best way to move a tank? I would imagine trying to transport buckets of tank water and buckets of gravel.

My ideal would be to start up a bigger tank, cycle it, then just worry about transporting the fish. Is that a bettter way to do it?
