The tank is overstocked. Most smells usually come from overfeeding. How much brine shrimp do you feed them? Are they frozen or freeze dried brine shrimp? If they are frozen, maybe cut the cubes smaller.

The flat packs are much easier.
Regarding the fish, you can either...
1. Donate or try to sell them to an LFS.
2. Offer them on Craigslist
3. Give them to a friend or maybe just have him/her house them for awhile, until you get a larger tank.
