I have had trouble with plants in the past (although the ones I have now are doing well, so far) and I was wondering what affect a high (8.2) pH would generally have on plants. The water out of our tap is 8.2 pH, and I have in the tank--anubias, a few crypts, a few vals, a crinium bulb, and some sort of a lilly. Anyone else have experience with alkaline water and how it affects plants/fish?

I would say 8.2 is a little on the high side. Most plants prefer a little lower although most I have seen say 8 is ok. It could be that your water lacks something that the plants need and all you need to do is add some ferts. If you notice slow growth and transparent leaves then you need to start dosing ferts in order for them to live and thrive a long time.
