Hidey places for Platy fry..

972 Views 5 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  fish monger
Can I ask your opinions please? :) Is this enough cover/hidey spots for my impending Platy fry? I'm pretty sure I've got at least 3 lovely ladies about to pop and would like to give the wee ones the best chance I can.. I don't want to try and catch the Mums, because they absolutely freak out if they even see a net.. One goes almost catatonic, the poor thing.. :-( So what I thought I'd try is catching the fry when I see them and putting them in my little tank... If I can! lol

Hopefully it's not too hard to see everything.. Thanks all :-D

Your tank looks really nice and you're probably good with cover for the fry. Maybe a bunch (several stems) of floating plants would help.

Thanks Fish monger :) I do have java moss floating on top of the plastic plant behind the mayaca (I know, plastic plant yuk, but it's coming in handy!!).. I was a bit worried about covering the live plants too much because of the risk of lack of light... It's a bit hard to see, but there's quite a bit of java moss there.. If more floating plants are needed, guess where I'm going this weekend? :-D

Well, you're probably OK as is. I am currently over run with platy babies and I would say I have about the same amount of cover as you. Just concerned that you wanted to save as many as possible. I have not moved anybody and the survival rate has been great.

The first lot is under way.. :-D No idea who the daddy is, so I don't know what colour they are going to be or even if they'll be platies or platy/sword x... Mum is a White Mickeymouse :)
