Distinguishing sexes in blue gouramis is a bit difficult. Males have a pointed tip on their dorsal fin whereas females have rounded tip. Gold gouramis are still blue gouramis created under selective breeding.

You have to provide the female thickets of plants while the male is creating bubblenest or risk getting her killed by the male. Monitor them closely.

he has a big point at the end and she has a round tip that goes straight down.

I have 2 gold gouramis, 2 glowlight tetras, and 1 ****** loach.

I have had the first 4 for about 2 weeks, and the loach for almost 1 week.

When I got my gold gouramis, they were both bright yellow and the exact same size (I bought them small), I do not know their genders at all.

My gouramis always chase each other, and about 2 days ago I noticed one looking darker on top, almost like it was dirty (like a mottled brownish color) and on top of that, last night and this morning I noticed that it was quite a bit bigger and fatter than the other one and way more aggressive. The bigger, darker one is great to the tetras and loach, but aggressively chases the other if it gets too close. It is still eating and actively swimming, so I do not think it is sick, but I have no idea what this means or what could be wrong.

What does the color change, agressiveness, and fatness mean????

I just started and don't have plants yet either. :\
