hello,
im new to rearing fish so i need help with things i should get for my fish and aquarium setup.i dont think i need heater because i live in malaysia which is a tropical country and its always hot here !:lol:so what things do you suggest me getting and some good fish maybe
PS:i have 4 guppies (3 female and 1 male)
:and 2 tetras in a bowl all 6

There are many folks much more knowledgeable than I am but I can tell you the sooner you get those fish into bigger living quarters the better! A ten gallon would be a minimum, and you should read about how to cycle a tank. Good luck and welcome, this is a great spot for information.

Hi steve123...greetings from way over here in Los Angeles....I'm brand new here too...and i believe Earthgirl is 100% correct...think of it this way, if u were the fish what would u like to see...plants, caves, nice natural rocks and wood, plenty of water to swim in, and other nice fish (who don't want to eat you!!!)...or a bunch of crowed fish in a bowl? Try to get a larger tank and have fun setting up all the stuff bit by bit...ur fish will be healthier and live a great deal longer...I have spent hours looking at pics of other peoples setups and have gotten tons of ideas....feels like I'm just starting too!!! Oh, and don't be surprised if u see more guppies real soon ;-)

Awesome, welcome to fish keeping, I've only been doing it for about 9 months but I love it so much. I would say the most important thing as a new comer is to learn about the ammonium/nitrite/nitrate cycle. Make sure that you get a test kit that test for all three of these so you can monitor levels until your tank cycles.
You have a good male to female ratio on your guppies, but I might get another tetra or two, they like to school. If you have a ten gallon you could probably add another 2 or 3 and it will be ok.

actually im thinking about purchasing a 25 gallons !:-D i am really happy about that.
how many fish can i put in there , i only want to buy 2 inch fish so what would you suggest and im buying two more tetras cuz they school.also which type of aquarium plants can i put in my tank .thank you in advance .

ok im a bit lost, you say you have some guppies and that you also have 2 tetras in a bowl. does the bowl have a filter?

as far as plants go and fish choices more recommendations can come once we find out your gh kh and ph. as far as plant recommendations go what type of lighting do you have?

need some more info before any accurate suggestions can be made

For our newer members - Its difficult to make suggestions because we don't know what's available over there. That goes for both fish and for equipment. Also, something else to keep in mind, is that there can be cultural differences in fish keeping as it pertains to tank sizes and stuff. It's always good to know where someone lives when giving advice

Thanks pop - I've spent enough (too much) time on forums to know that we can suggest this that and the other thing, only to hear "we don't have them/that here".

A perfect example of a cultural difference are arowanas in Asian cultures. They are kept in tanks that many of us would consider way too small. But for them, they are kept for good luck (if I recall correctly) - its just how things are there.
