Hello there...I have one red tailed shark in my 55 gallon community tank. For awhile, he was doing well...but for the past week Ive noticed he is skinny and his color doesnt look good. I dont really understand why, he comes out of the hideouts when its feeding time. I feed flakes, wafers, carnivore frozen mixture( brine shrimp, misis shrimp, bloodworms). Ive tested my water and its good! Ive been doing regular water changes like always, once a week. Im concernd about him, but dont know what is going on. I dont have any aggressive fish in the tank, all friendlys. His fins look good, no rips or tears or anything. Please help! Thank you!

What exactly are your parameters and what are you testing with?

help for a redtail

Make sure the temp in your tank is right for him. I believe 80° is perfect. Also give him extended periods of time with no light on in the tank. Another idea is offer algae wafers or some other veg food, just in case. My rainbow shark loves sweet peas slightly crushed. Good luck I love redtails, one of my favorite fish!

I have had him for 6 months or longer. My other fishies seem to be doing well, none seem to be acting different than normal. Ive tried feeding cucumber, he would hover around it, but never saw him actually eating it. I do throw in a algae wafer everyday. But he seems to just lay on a huge leaf all day long. And I always turn off my tank light before I go to bed, so there is some sort of night and day schedule. I havnt tried peas yet..how do I prepare those?
