Help!! Had a power surge/outage and now filters aren't working

I have both a HOB filter and Fluval 400. Both make a noise now and the impeller isn't turning. I manually turn impeller and it spins but not for long. Could the surge have done something to the motor or magnet inside? What can I do to fix it? Any suggestions. Thanks!!!

Remove the impeller. Clean the impeller. Clean the housing the impeller sits in with q-tip or similar. Reassemble. Prime and plug in. If it still doesn't start poke the impeller with a pencil while its plugged in.

Also if you hold the impeller in your hand near the motor, with the motor plugged in. You should feel the tug/vibrating on the impeller from the motor. If you get nothing then the motor maybe shot. Its an easy trick for testing second hand filters under dry conditions.

Funny thing, Impellers were fine, the powere wasnt restored with full voltage, so thats why the filters werent working. Power was shut off again, while they fixed it and came on, working properly over night. I was panicing, but it was all for nothing lol.
