Hey! I was cleaning out my tank, when I looked into my bucket I saw a tiny fish so I scooped it out then found 4 more, they're all sat in a sandwich box as I know my danio's would eat them! However, I have no idea what I'm doing and I'd like to try and keep them alive.

What can I feed them that's easy to obtain? (preferably not eggs)

How often should I do a water change? (no filtration on the box they're in)

Is there anything else I need to do/ consider?

Thanks :smile2:

I just crush up my flake food for fry food. Just between my thumb and first finger in a rubbing motion til its powder that floats on water..they find it and within a week it can start being less finely ground. if they have to stay in the same tank as mom...lots of plants...floating and planted...fake grass hanging upside down seems to work well for hiding in. anything to hide them...and feed mom really well with good food so she wont be hungry.
Just my 2 cents

Thank you :) They're just by themselves, I have crushed flake food up for them but it still seems quite big for their size, just want to make sure they don't starve!

Get yourself a $5 net style breeder box from petco or petsmart so you can keep them in the main tank. I had the same surprise a few months ago. I used crushed up flake until I could get to the store and buy Hikari first bites. Everybody happy and healthy!

Thanks! I actually manged to get a net one the other week but I'm having problems with it, where if I move it they slip down the side and get squashed between the framework and the net!! That's great to hear for yours, mine are still very small!!
