I was going to get one more Hifin Platy so my Swordtail would not be as aggressive to the hifin, but all they had were Green Lanterns. I got two of them, and they seem to be staying in the same corner of my 10 gallon tank. One bold one sometimes swims around a bit. The Hifin seems REALLY happy now, because he is staying with the green lanterns. My question is, is that normal behavior? And, I was going to get a larger tank, but they were a bit expensive, so I will get one next week. I was looking at a 20 gallon tank.

How long have you had them? It may just take them time to get used to their new surroundings, or there may be some aggression or dominance you are missing. Keep a close eye on the offender.

Both of the green lanterns are now swimming around. All of the fish look much happier now.

A friend gave me a box of Tetra Water Clarifier tablets. Do you recommend that I use them?

No I do not. I always recommend to steer clear of anything with the name tetra. If you need to clarify your water, run some carbon for a few days to a week in a mesh media bag or your filter. Purigen also clarifies water super, but it can be pricey. It is rechargeable though.

Mostly because of some of their practices, like their advertising. Showing photos of goldfish in bowls and overstocked tanks.They did a segment on morning tv once to show how "easy" it is to set up saltwater...in a BOWL with a clownfish and a seahorse.:-(
They are mostly geared towards being cheap and big box stores. Their equipment can be faulty-keep an eye on that heater. Although I do have a couple whisper air pumps. Food, it's not high quality. New Life Spectrum{aka NLS} would be a better choice.

Well I suppose we can both have our own opinions. Anyways, the HiFin swam right up to me this morning, and the green lanterns soon did the same.

They seem to be doing well! They outlasted Skippy ( the carnival goldfish) by a month already!
