Thought I'd share a good tip, I saw it somewhere on-line recently, but can't remember where!
When pre-soaking your small pieces of driftwood, place the wood in your toilet cistern and every time you flush you are effectively doing a water change thus removing the tannins with every visit!:-D
Saving water in the process! I've currently got a nice piece of Red Gum root in both of my toilet cisterns!!!:p

yuck dont do that just soack driftwood incontainer and keep on changing water every week
Why "Yuck"???

The water in your toilet cistern is usually the same fresh, clean water as anywhere else supplied in your house! :-? (unless you have a separate supply to your toilet, or maybe use recycled water?)

The only time it gets "Yucky" I suppose is when the water is in the toilet bowl itself, and I'm not suggesting you put your driftwood in the toilet bowl! ;-)

This way you're saving water, surely a good thing? :-?
