I am wondering how to identify a glass or ghost shrimp (Paleomonetes sp.) from a bland colored Neocaridina heteropoda. I first got 6 "algae cleaner" shrimp of unknown species. There are only one or two left as far as I can find. Then I got 2 ghost shrimp from Petco, at least sold as such. Now I have RCS from breeders and I don't want them to interbreed and bleed out the color. I know the RCS can breed with the other Neocaridina but not the Paleomonetes. Any distinctive ways to tell the clear colored shrimp apart?

ghost (glass) shrimp have pale yellow or orange bands on their leg joints and spots on their tails.

Now that I know what to look for, if only I can find them again! I moved 3 big ones 1"+ that all looked alike and I think are the Neocardininas. I put them in my 14g tank and they are gone! They are so camouflaged I may never see them again!:-D
