my froggy passed away and now i fear my angels got ich. she had a bad experience with some dwarf puffers and they ate some of her fin. now the tips of her fins look like their covered in a white film. also theres a whit ball like cluster hanging from one of the wounds. theres two yeast like spots on her fins as well. none of the other fish have it on them . what should i do how do i know what it is?

Two Items

1) IMHO the symptoms which you are observing are not Ich.

2a) Dose with Melafix as indicated on the directions.

2b) I you have activated carbon in you filtration process remove it before dosing with Melafix.

ok did a quick serch on melafix i see it derives from melaluca oil. i happen to have some of that stuff actually a lot pure melaluca oil can i drip some of that in the tank instead. i understand that it is all natural but potent stuff i might try one drop. will it hurt my fish, shrimp, frog combo?

External problems.

If the Melafix does not improve the condition in two days other folks will need to provide input as to other potential remedies.

ok thanx. do you or anybody know about melaluca oil? I read on wikipedia its said to work for thing like that for fish. i dont want to use it until i know for sure though.

No I do not unfortunately.

I had an angel get stuck in a rock hole and in extricating him he lost some scales, fins and skin.

Some gurus said to try Melafix before trying anything else which I did.

A few eruptions appeared on his skin but went away in several days and he completely healed in about two weeks (I dosed with Melafix for one week).

It shouldn't but don't try overdosing it.

thanx guys im going to put one drop in the 10 gallons and see what happens. ill also try to contact my melaluca lady to ask her if she knows anything. i know she uses it for her dogs ear infections. this stuff works wonders and is all natural you should look into it yourselves.

well the oils been in the tank abour two hours now and nobadys acting funny. and about five minutes ago the white ball fell of my angel!! im watching it carefully just in case, i think ive just made melaleuca my new favorite herbal remedy!

well one drop was all the tank needed. my ammonia is throught the roof which i believe dropped my angels immune system. the melaluca has repaired her fins and made them fuller than ever. they look so smooth ive never seen then like this before. its amazing what one drop in ten gallons can do!
