Hi everyone! I have a 37 gallon Eclipse tank with two flourescent bulbs (unfortunately, I have no idea what the wattage is, because my tank did no come with a box and the wattage does not seem to be indicated anywhere on the bulbs). I also have a lunar blue light that I use in the evenings. I have black gravel substrate. I do not have a CO2 injection system. So far, I only have plastic plants but would like to add some real plants that will do well in a low tech set up.

So far, I've purchased 2 anubias plants, some christmas moss, some java fern, and 3 marimo balls. I am planning on having pearl gouramis, diamond tetras, cory cats, and striatum killifish. Some of these fish enjoy floating plants.

At the moment, I have a plastic floating plant, but I would like to know if there are any floating plants that I could use that would grow well in my tank set up?

I also would like to know if it would be better to forgo the floating plants (I am worried that they might cut off access to the overhead lighting??)

Thanks in advance for your help! :)

There are frogbits, salvinia, Pistia stratiotes, hornwort and riccia.:) Riccia seems to require a high lighting of 3 watts per gallon. You may have to avoid some plants like duckweeds as they can proliferate very easily and may become a nuisance.
