okay, i will start from the the beginning...i added the betta to the 10 gallon tank with my other fish, which ended up NOT being a good idea...later that day i noticed my swordtails, who were normally quite docile to one another, had started terrorizing each other, or rather, the pineapple kept chasing the red velvet. so the red velvet started hiding and clamping his fins, etc. so i removed the betta again after he had bothered the crap out of everyone, and that was two days ago. the pineapple sword has continued to stress the red velvet and i have since re-homed him with my mother hoping that that would clear things up. i woke up this morning not able to find him, and when i did he was lying between my bubble wand and the wall of my tank, he finally came out and just floated around for a few minutes, wouldnt eat, and then slowly swam back down to lay on the gravel. i'm worring and dont know what i should do...i dont want my fish to die. im mad at myself for putting the stupid betta in the big tank cuz none of this happened until i did and everyone got all stressed out. what should i do?

this is an update to the previous info...i have quarantined the red velvet sword in a 1 gal hospital tank (with water & substrate from big tank) and i am treating with melafix...i dont know what else to do until someone can give me some advice, he doesnt have any physical symptoms other than clinched fins, hiding, laying on the rocks, so i was going to treat with Tank buddies anti-parasitic tablets but i will wait until i get some advice.

Did you just add your betta? you needed to slowly introduce him, a HUGE temp change would be the reason behind this.
What you need to do is remove the betta to its one gal tank and leave it their until you can get it its own tank.

first of all [email protected]: it's funny that you say i should get the betta its own tank considering you were the one that was pushing so hard for me to put him in the bigger tank...also, the betta is not the one thats sick, he remains fine, it was the red sword that was sick...

[email protected]:...yes they were both males, i know how to identify male from female swords, and the red sword passed away earlier tonite...so thanks guys. i guess i should have just left things well enough alone...my big tank was fine, and my betta was ok...i know next time...
