I've noticed some of my fish rubbing themselves on the rocks and stuff is this normal?

This means they have parasites most likely.
Check for them on their skin.

Sorry that I was not more clear.
In very hard water with high ph and high oxygen levels fish will often dart against rocks as if itching themselves. I don't know why.

Wow, I've never heard that before..I have some pretty high levels of pH and hardness myself but I've never seen that. Interesting though.

a few of them have little white spots on them. is that the parasites or could it be ick if so how do I treat it

I went and got a new heater since my tank temps were low and I got ick stuff and I read I need to do it for 14 days and clean the tank each day is this correct?
