Hoorah my first cichlid tank is under way with 6 juvenile Livingstoneii. I think of them as giraffe fish!
Very excited to have the new addition incl the new tank finally ready.
Many more cichlids to come in the near future no doubt!
Can't wait until they are old enough to breed too

Now all I need to know is what are good tank mates for my little ones? Only adding a few at a time going to leave these ones in for a week or two first to get used to it. I think it might help if I get fish the same young age roughly so they can grow together in the 60 gal. That is my thought anyways.

Suggestions of tank mates welcome... Or suggestions of tank mates not to have!

Sorry to burst the bubble.....
The fish you have chosen are not suitable for the tank you have. They grow quite quickly to be 10" (25cm) adult size. Unless you plan on getting a much bigger 125g+ tank then NOTHING else can go in this tank. Hate to say it but you cant even keep one of these fish in this tank to adulthood.

Once they mature they will eat anything that can fit into their mouths.

You can only fit about 10-15 fish in a 60g tank and that is with correct stocking which cichlids need. You would be better off looking at yellow labs, acei, red zebra, rusty as beginner fish.

I have a huge tank on the way which these will be transferred into so this tank is more of a growing up tank for them so don't worry, no bubble to be bursted.

just from my personall experience i have tried to keep these guys in the past and gave up, they all end up floating at the top for no apparent reason that i can see. no signs of disease and perfect water conditions. never found out what did it eventually just gave up but goodluck with them!
