Hi guys, I've been a fish keeper for a few years but have never been filter-less for obvious reasons.

I've had to downscale my tank due to moving house but currently have a relatively heavily planted 40L tank. It doesn't have any live stock but I was debating adding a Betta just because I love them.

I have got an air stone for circulation but no filter. I have also added some Pure Aquarium balls. With weekly water changes and with it being so under-stocked; do you think a Betta would be healthy without a filter in this 40L?

Many thanks.

yes

IMHO the plants are the best filtering anyway.

the term heavily planted differs for everyone.... some people will consider a small rhisome of anubias in a 10g heavily planted..... depends on quantity and species of plant chosen. in saying that, bettas can do well in unfiltered setups....
