I would say you are ok. How old is your tank. You are running the minimum of what you should. I laways like to go a little over. That way you can always upgrade and bring your old filter to your new tank. But you should be good. If you want to be safe, add an undergravel filter. though it is hard on a running tank, but not impossible. An undegravel will do the trick. Just add it and some Fitz-zyme and you will be set.

I have had the tank for 4 years, but I have only used it for about 1 and 1/2 years, and I have always used that same filter.I dont know the age of the filter, because my neighbor gave it to me when I started the hobby. She said she has had it for a long tme,(4 to 5 years). I forgot to include that the filter is very dirty.I tried cleaning it yesterday, but I could not get all of the crud off. :( I hope this info helps. Thanks

don't worry about the crud on your filter, it won't hurt anything. unless of course it's out in the open and it's a visual eye sore, then you might consider cleaning it, but it won't hurt anything being crusty.

Myself, I love to overfilter. both of my freshwater tanks are being filtered with 2 filters rated to handle the tanks by their selves. also, that way when I clean out one filter, the other is still going!
