We had a power surge and it destroyed my filter. I can't get another one until late tomorrow and don't have an air stone or anything. If I throw the media in the tank, will I keep enough of a cycle to get me by? I also have a lot of live plants.

I'm stressing.

Make it 100%

The media will be perfectly fine in the filter for quite a long time (as in many weeks), provided it stays wet. If the water level is low in the tank, water can back siphon out of the filter.

Glad to hear you got it working again!
For future reference - no stress was needed - Jaysee and Austin are absolutely correct!
Our power went out for over a week last summer. It sucked, but the tanks - ALL the tanks, from 3g to 55, came through just fine, no lives lost, and no harm done.
I tested every day to see what would happen, and continued to test for a week after - just to see. . .
Never saw the tiniest wiggle in parameters! ^__^
