Hey,
I want to take some pond dwelling plants out of my pond (think it's hornwort) and exchange it into an inside tank. How do i take it out the pond so it can grow in a tank, in other words, do i have to carefully take the whole plant out or can i just cut a bit off of the main plant?
Cheers

A stem plant like hornwort can simply be cut and the tip ends planted in the aquarium. It may well disintegrate at first, and may or may not recover; this is due to the change in water chemistry and light from outside in an open ecosystem to inside in a closed system.

Years ago I brought in some floating plants from my pond, water lettice and hyacinth, to overwinter so the freezing temperatures wouldn't kill them, which would occur with more delicate floating plants, and much the same happened at first but new growth appeared. The change from tank to pond in the Spring was less dramatic, which should be no real surprise. Outside conditions are undoubtedly better suited to such plants.
