I have 2 electric blues. Im unsure of the sexing of one them. How can I tell?[/b][/list]

What species are they?:question: I was thinking they could be cichlids.:squint:

Off it goes to the Cichlids section then.:mrgreen: I'm not sure if these are mouthbrooders as I do not have much knowledge with Lake Malawian cichlids however one thing I can tell you is that males are generally bigger and have egg spots on their anal fins.:)

hi ok with electric blues i have found as i bred them heeps the males are very light at young and feamails dark.i hope that helps u out :D

I dont think that is a very accurate way of sexing them as i have had many of them as young and this is how i sex them.

Young male:Seems to have a blue sheen to him.
Young female:doesnt have blue sheen
Adult male:Bright blue colouring with red fins and a strip of white on the top fin.
Adult female:NO colouring just a plain brown.

adult female grayish colour hold up heres a pic of my adult female blue (cant find a pic of my males) sorry for bad foto quality

Depends entirely upon exactly which species we're talking about. I can think of at least 5 or 6 Lake Malawi cichlid species that commonly go by "electric blue".
