Effective Vorticella Treatment in a Shrimp Tank

I just want to share how I finally got rid of Vorticella on my red cherry shrimp tank.

So in almost a month, may shrimp tank is infested with vorticella, I have found various articles on the internet regarding vorticella treatment and I ended up trying 3 of them. First was using salt. Ineffective. Second was using Indian Almond Leaves as it was said it to have anti fungal and anti bacterial properties. Ineffective. Third was using API Pimafix. Works on first outbreak. The second time I had vorticella, it didn't work anymore. Yes, I had a second outbreak weeks after I got rid of vorticella using API Pimafix.

Here I will be sharing a short treatment with lasting permanent effect. It is by using Hydrogen Peroxide in your tank. I refer to the following article for my dosage and method.

I can guarantee the effectiveness of this method and how cheap this treatment is. In just an hour, vorticella retracted (like what happens when you touch them) then they just completely melted away. Unlike the past few treatments I followed, the hydrogen peroxide treatment was the fastest and probably do your tank more good than just getting rid of vorticella. I wished I have seen that article sooner.

Wow this is amazing! I have some shrimp and will use that method.
I tried the same and worked too.
My 40L tank with orange neocaridinas and ghost shrimp was with vorticella visible on the glass for like 2 months. Hadn't infected the shrimps yet.
So I tried some solution I found in the internet to, frequent water changes, indian almond leaf, even pimafix. Nothing worked.
Today I tried the peroxide hydrogen ( água oxigenada in Brasil) and seem that worked. None visible vorticella.
I got anxious at the application and overdosed a little, I should had put 10ml in my 40L(33L real water). Got anxious because I wasn't seeing any reaction from the protozoans. So I put in total 14ml of it.
Some of my shrimp acted quite and hide. So o waited the 1 hour recommended in the article. And made a water change. I don't know if they act like this beacouse of the solution or just scared of me mixing the water. Some were acting normal tho.
My advise is to wait the one hour of the application to expect some visible results. And be shure of the real volume of water in your tank. If doesn't work, try again in higher dose another day.
The population in my tank is still the same as before: 7 orange neocaridinas and 1 ghost shrimp.
I'll try to post again next week with the updates of my shrimps.

Hi,
sorry I know this is an older post but I’ve just spotted vorticella on my shrimp.
I found your post but the article/link won’t load.
Can you advise how I should treat the problem please.
