Hi

I have fluval 406 filter with advanced filtration system. I also have loads of live plants in the tank. I wanted to find out if any of this helps lower the level of nitrites or water change is the only thing that helps?

Live plants help a bit, yes. Filters help provided they have beneficial bacteria(which you get during the cycling process) in them to eat it and convert it to nitrates, which live plants also help keep down a bit. =)

That makes sense :) It seems like I got the order wrong. For some reason I thought its nitrates to nitrites. If its nitrates at the end than it means that plants will most likely use them as its food for them.

Bacteria consumes ammonia and nitrite. Plants consume ammonia and nitrate.
