Hi all my moms comunity fish tank is ill. There are some fish with popeye and others with dropsy. It also have khuli loaches in it and cory cats. I have epsom salt and would like to add it to the water will that harm the loaches and cory cats? I have already lost d fishes and don't want to loose any more.

not sure about epsom salt but u can go to walmart or almost any pet store and get aquarium salt. As far as ur concern for the loaches n cory's try using a dose smaller then they recommend because of the small/no scales that these fish have makes them less tolerant of chemicals ect. we have to do the same thing w/ my eel, less of any chemical we put in there.

Epsom salt isn't really the best treatment for dropsy. It's the less likely to work. Antibiotics such as Maracyn and Kanamycin are your best bet. Dropsy is not a disease in itself but rather a symptom. What are your water parameters? Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate? I would add aquarium salt.
