If i were to use a compact fluorescent bulbs in a 10g reef tank, would they be bulbs i could purchase right at my local walmart?

I don't think they would have the correct color temperature. You need 10,000k, 14,000k or 20,000k. I think that Wal-Mart bulbs are 6700k, more for plant life.
