I can only tell you I've had a female and male together in perfect water conditions for a not quite a yr. less then that but not less then 6 months and no babies. They are both now full grown and tolerate eachother and are for sure male and female. 46 gallons and no babies. However the store manager of the place I got mine from has a pair as well which have bred 2 times in his home aquarium and his son is currently raising the 2nd batch now.
Possible but I don't think it's easy... or maybe mine just are just stuck in the "friend zone"
