Got a Krib today! I have a few questions about them, and a few updates on things. First, how do you sex Kribs, and do they have to be a certain age to tell? Mines a baby, around 1.5 inches, he's very curious and fast! When do they start to show their "true"/mature color? Also, my Angel may be growing out of his pectoral fin deformation! I've seen him putting them in normal position a few times, one of his pectorals actually goes into normal position a lot! Also, my female Molly (whos also a mom) is hiding in a pot, and won't come out. I posted on the live bearer thread for those who think they can help!

So, the female is smaller, more rounded dorsal and has a egg bulge around her stomach? What age can you tell? Do the male dorsal fins grow out?

Female;
Smaller
Rounder fins USUALLY
More color
Bigger stomach
Yellow tints, sometimes

Male;
Extended, pointed fins
Longer, not plumper
Less color

That is a breeding pair (not mine) but they are at least a year.

Post a pic of yours and i can tell you.

I'm partial to whether or not I should get another Krib, because he already actively guards his territory. I don't want to get anything that will make him more aggressive than that. Also, my female Betta is constantly challenging him by going to the edge of his territory and staring at him until he does something. He will chase all fish in his territory (which is just a rock with some cover) except for my Angel. My Angel and Krib do not have any territory issue. I do however think that him and my Honey Gourami have some rivalry, though. What are some other interesting (preferably non- schooling) fish that will work instead of another Krib?

My stock hasn't changed at all.... I still have all the same fish I did when you said that. The only thing I've added was a Krib, something you said I could get!

Well your ram died, pearl gourami was rehomed (i think), angel added, krib added, honey dwarf gourmai added. What else do you have?

When i said it, it was a general statement. Meaning that a pair of kribs and a bushynose pleco could easily in a 29. I dont know what else you have.

I actually have decreased on stock a little. I have 5 Harlequins, 2 Female Bettas (soon to be separated), Dwarf Gourami, Dalmatian Molly, 3 Molly fry, 1 Angelfish, 1 Krib. -2 Guppies -1 Female Betta -1 Molly Fry

There currently is no aggression, I just want to make sure it stays that way! I don't really want them to chasing other fish in my tank away, so I'll have to do some more thinking on the pair. Definitely will increase the number of Harlequins, though! I was actually thinking of getting a Powder Blue or Neon a Dwarf a Gourami (I've had great experiences with the Dwarfs, other than sickness). However, my current Honey Gourami probably wouldn't be very open to the idea, would it?

My Kribs currently have fry. They really only get aggressive if someone comes way too close. However, there are times when they go and actively chase other fish. This is pretty rare though.

This is a random question, but can anyone recommend me a 3-5 gallon, cheap HOB filter? I'm looking for more biological filtration than mechanical, and peaceful outflow. I'm looking at the Tetra Whisper 1-3 and the Aqua Tech 5-15 currently, thoughts? Thanks!
