Hello ALL!
I was hopeing someone could tell me a bit about chinese algea eaters breeding habits.
Around 2 or 3 months ago I bought a chinese algea eater from the pet store and just two days ago I saw eggs stuck to the side of my ten gallon fish tank. I have a betta, and three albino correy cat fish, and only the one algea eater. I am assuming it was the aglea eater because the correys never go up the side of the tank, and I can't imagin they would go their to lay eggs. So why would the aglea eater lay eggs with out any males? Do they lay eggs then the male feralizes them? Or are chinese algea eaters like sword fish that get breed once then produce eggs and fry for life? If not should I try and get a male algea eater so they can breed? Or should I just leave her alone and let her produce unfertalized eggs?:-?
Many questions and I don't know a thing about it. Any help would really help!

i have actually heard of cory cats laying eggs on the sides of the tank...

i would say with 99.9% confidence that those eggs are not the chinese algea eater and instead say with 99.9% confidence that those are the corries' eggs. While it may not look like your corries explore the whole tank, in a 10 gallon tank they will explore everybit of it. i have found also that the normal range of corries with the light on is very different then their range with the lights off. You said that you have 3 corries do you notice a size difference?

No doubt about it. That's cory eggs. Do a water change at night when a front comes through then watch them in the morning. They'll lay eggs.

I have one male albino corydora and one female Chinese algae eater and I am certain that they are cross breeding because the Chinese catfish becomes three times her size and I saw her climbing up above the water. The next day I saw eggs all over where she was climbing out of the water.

She did this twice and after each pregnancy she is back down to a tiny size. I am hoping I can find a way to have these eggs hatch because the first time I just left it alone and nothing happened.
