Hi guys,

I was just wondering, a friend of mine bought these two little fish to replace the ones that unfortunetly didn't make it :(

Does anyone know if it's safe to put a Fighter Fish with these two little fellas?

:D

those blurry pics of the fish look like a type of danio, you need at least 5 danios, 6 would be better
Hi,

My friend only gave me 2. Danio's sound like the correct name for them. But I want to put a Fighter Fish in with it (I.e. a Betta)

no that would deffinatly not work, first of all danios need at least 5, second of all danios are fin nippers and they will probably tear the fins off the betta, third of all danios like a strong current, bettas dont like any current at all

Its quite possible that the danios might start nipping at the bettas fins...especially if not kept in a group. Many schooling fish behave more agressively if removed from the group. And bettas in particular tend to get nipped at by more active fish.

 lol dam. I have no luck with fish.

Isn't the Fighter fish supposed to FIGHT them off haha... Okay then, so either a) Get 4 more Danio's to make a pack...

or

b) what other fish can I put in with them?

well overall you'd probably be better off completing the group of danios. If you decided to get other fish however you would want to stick with other active fish that aren't likely to be bothered by the danios zipping around. Tiger barbs perhaps? They'll fend for themselves just fine with danios.

If space permits and tigers kept in group, there's not a chance they will pick the danios.:) Tiger barbs just pick on other fish if they are lesser in number or cramped with space but the rule that they should never be mixed with long-finned specimens should be strictly followed. Long fins are a temptation they can't resist.

Okay, well i'll get 4 more Danio's, and maybe buy a Tiger one like you said.

There's no special requirements for a Tiger Barb?

You'll need to keep them in a group. 6 is a good number. No special requirements for them. They are quite hardy.:)

Okay, well I have 2 Danio's at the moment.

I'll buy 4 more, which will give me 6 Danio's because the other guy up above said that I should keep them in a pack of 6.

I dont know if I should buy a Tiger Barb, it might be a bit crowded in there with 6 fish and 1 Tiger Barb... hmm..

Not in my opinion. Danios are surface dwellers whereas tiger barbs are mid dwellers so you can get away with 6 tiger barbs. If you are in doubts with tiger barbs, get some pentazona barbs instead.:)

well we also need to know the size of the tank before we do any research on what fish can go will with them. I currently have 7 danios and they are doing fine with my otos and ghost shrimp. I will also soon find out if they will fit with my bolivian rams

If you have strong filtration and dont mind frequent water changes it might work since both danios and tiger barbs are hardy.

you definitely have to keep the tiger barbs in a group. Those little buggers go crazy if kept singly or with only a few. Just the way they are. A lone tiger barb in a tank will either die from the stress or cause some massive carnage with the other fish.

i agree that the tank looks a bit small for 12 fish!! i only have 3 danios and they do just fine amongst my others, theres no nipping or anythin. there r many varieties of danio and some r very pretty, good luck! :):):)
