Is it a betta splendens?

According to the Seriously Fish site, ornamental strains of splendens can live in pH 6.0-8.0. Wild caught between 5.0-7.0. But other variations of bettas have different parameters and some need a pH lower than that.

What is the water hardness? Betta splendens have a pretty wide range of hardness, between 18-268 ppm.
