Brown bits in water?

A couple days ago I got some Bronze Cories and plants for my 25G. Since I got them though, I tank was a LOT of floating brown bits in the water column (I'm guessing form the plants?) and i will not get any better. I just did a water change and now its looks more disgusting, which I don't get.

Is this more with planted tanks when you first get plants? Or should I be more worried about this?

EDIT: I also have driftwood in the tank, but I cleaned it very thoroughly before I but it in the tank. Could that be it?
