I was looking at a magnum 350 canister filter at a local petstore the other day and to me it looked like it was lacking in the biological filltration? + you cant customize them.

Can you place bio-balls or some tipe of biological media in the empty space between the filter sleeve and the filter housing?Cause to me it looks like a lot of emty space.What does the water polishing mode do?

O.K. if you use the magnum 350 on your reef tank for mechanical filltration what do you use for biological?Is that were your live rock comes into play?

Well zeb_nz sure mabey i could use a sump, but i am only going to have a 30 gallon tank. shaving a sump would not be the best setup for my case.
usmc if i am not going to have a sump with live rock(but i do plan on having live rock in the main tank)what would be the best filltration for me?Is the magnum 350 with biowheel unuff for my tank, or is there something else that would suit me better?
