I recently bought some plants that must have had some pond snail eggs on them. I eventually dumped the plants into a tank outside, and now I have a load of them! I was curious, if I wanted to breed them, how long does it take for them to reach sexual maturity? Does anyone have any good links to scientific articles about them? I'm very curious about them now.

pond snails are about as close to being born pregnant as anything other than Daphnia. they are hermaphroditic so every one can lay eggs and in extreme circumstances ( only one or two in a space) they will fertilize themselves!!! The actual time to sexual maturity will depend on temperature and amount of food available BUT they reach sexual maturity on average in about 3 weeks.
