Hi guyz ........i'm a new user and i have a question.
Last day one of my female mollies died and now out of the remaining 5 only 2 of them are not eating and keep to themselves in a corner of my tank.
Are they just grief striken for their mate or is this some sign of sickness.
Plz help me.

Why did the first one die? What are your parameters? It could be the other mollys are hardier and more resistant to your water quality while the other too are succumbing to whatever killed the first one. How often are you changing the water?

Don't quote me on this but I had aquariums decades ago. I seem to remember that Mollies like some salt. When I got back into having an aquarium (36 gallons) I would buy some fish including Mollies. The other fish did fine but the Mollies eventually died. I tried over and over. Then I added some salt. I now have 9 healthy and happy Mollies. Before jumping into salt, I would do some research with Google or more likely somebody here will give some advice.

They do because they are naturally brackish water fish. Some do fine without and others don’t. They like low salinity, nothing like actually saltwater fish however. It’s hard though if you want other fish because you can only do brackish water fish. I just switch over to platy haha.

I was worried about my plants as well as the species that don't like salt. I added three rounded tablespoons in the 36 gallons and everybody seems happy.
