I just picked up 5 more neons and 3 Amano shrimp for my minifish tank (Neons, Ottos, Pygmy corys, and a visiting bulldog pleco). They move like nothing else in any of my tanks, and they're already at work on the hair algae.

I am pleased!

Think a dwarf CA cichlid who's got a little mouth would eat them? I would love to have some - but do they need a lot of plants as cover?
Dwarf cichlids will always find a way to eat them. Plenty of plants would provide better chance for them to survive.

Even in a 40g with only one pair of small (3" or so) centrals? They mostly just "bluff" with their tankmates doing no real harm, just scaring them. Would it have to be completely planted?? What species of shrimp would be better than the amano (if any)?

Thanks for letting me chime in here - didn't mean to hijack!
