I have just got a "alkalinity test kit by salifert"
but reading the instructed I have not fully under stand haw to convert the reading back to a reading that I under stand.

I under stand about the proses to get to the pick/red water but then reading the left over in the 2nd syringe and then going to the table I just get lost. can any one help with this or are you having the sham problem as me.

For the sake of being consistent with everyone else on this forum, you want to do the reading in dKH. You are aiming for 10 to 12 dKH, with a range of 8 to 14 being acceptable.

what ever amount you have left in the syringe after the color change, you find the equvalent amount in the first column then slide over to the second column to find the dkH value of your water. for example, if your test vial turned to the orange-red and you have 0,46 left in the second syringe, you would have ALK of 8.6 dkH. alk is measured in the US typically in dkH. Natural sea water is 8.0 dkH and typically hobbiest strive for the range pasfur suggested above. Hope this helps.
